Endocrinology department of S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical as an independent structure was opened on 27.08.2009, by order of the Rector, Professor KazNMU A.A. Akanov.

The goal of the department — a qualitative problem-oriented medical education for students and residents of the University, the introduction of new educational technologies.

Clinical base of the department is the GCC №2 KazNMU where a Centre for Endocrinology and Diabetes Center.Department is headed of professor Zh. Abilayuly.

Employees of the department — are highly qualified specialists of endocrinology, having a long teaching and research experience. The department has two professors, 3 associate professors, 2 assistants, teacher-trainee 1. Professor of the Department Nurbekova AA the chief endocrinologist MoH RK. At the department studying 6 graduated students and 14 residents.

In the 2013-2014 academic year, according to the working curriculum discipline taught at the department of endocrinology according to the guidance letter number 6 ( JI — 2006), in Block » Internal Medicine » and endocrinology ( SES — 2006), in Block «childhood diseases» for the 4th year students of the specialty general Medicine 051301 .

In the 2013-2014 academic year, the department taught elective course «Practical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and diseases of the thyroid gland » for the 5th year students OM according to the guidance letter number 6 ( SES 2006). For 2013-2014 school year to the catalog of elective subjects produced 11 electives on various sections of endocrinology for the 3 , 5, 7 courses of OM and GPs.

Сlassrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards, informative stands, electronic books, legal documents and tools for working endocrinologist.

Scientific activity carried out not only in the traditional basic directions (Diabetology, thyroidologists, reproductive endocrinology), but includes also new topical issues: a study of APUD — system hormones, cytokine therapy and cytokine diagnosis, gerontology, stem cell technology in the treatment of endocrine disorders. Obtained by the act of introducing interactive training program on diabetes in the educational process .

Our expertise is appreciated not only in the country but is recognized and the world community. Since 2007, the Department is actively cooperating with the University of Nagasaki (Japan), and since 2012 the department staff conducted research on the diagnosis of of MODI diabetes with SUNY (State University of New York).
