The Department of Cardiology of KazNMU was founded on September 1, 2019. The professor-teacher compound of the Department of Cardiology in KazNMU has a high pedagogical, clinical and scientific potential. The department consists of 8 employees – 62.5% have degrees (4 doctors of medical sciences and a professor, 1 candidate of medical sciences), 100% have a qualification category. The clinical bases of the Department of Cardiology are leading medical organizations in Almaty and the Republic of Kazakhstan: Scientific Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Diseases (Director Ph.D., Pashimov M.O.) and City Clinical Hospital №7 (chief doctor MD, professor Ramazanov M.E..). Multidisciplinary medical center “Private Clinic Almaty” (General Director Shulenbaev O.Zh.), Mediterra Center for Modern Medicine, Almaty Sema Hospital. Clinical bases are equipped with the most modern equipment and provide specialized and highly specialized cardiological (NIIK and VB) and multidisciplinary (7GKB, Private Clinic, Sema Hospital, Mediterra Center for Modern Medicine) inpatient and outpatient medical care to the population of Almaty and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Professors and associate professors of the department provide advisory assistance to clinical sites, assistants of the department carry out patient management and duty. The main scientific direction of the Department of Cardiology of KazNMU is the study of the characteristics of the course, the participation of various factors in the mechanisms of formation and development of complications of acute myocardial infarction in the early and late periods among residents of a large modern metropolis (using the example of Almaty). The department trains doctoral and master’s students. A scientific circle for residents was organized. Employees of department B 2019 received a scientific and educational grant “Increasing the literacy of doctors in the treatment of nicotine addiction of patients” by developing educational and methodological materials and training primary care doctors to provide medical assistance to the population in quitting smoking. The teaching staff of the department is actively introducing modern management of cardiovascular diseases into the educational process and practical healthcare. In 2019, 2022, 2023 national protocols for the diagnosis and treatment of arterial hypertension, chronic coronary heart disease, prediabetes, CHF, and pulmonary hypertension have been developed; 1 article was published in a publication with an impact factor of 12, 20 articles were published in publications recommended by the Committee for Control in the Sphere of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The employees of the department are members and leaders of the Association of Cardiologists of Kazakhstan, the Society of Specialists in Arterial Hypertension and Cardiovascular Prevention, the Association of Therapists of Kazakhstan; members of the European Society of Cardiology, the European Society of Hypertension, the European Society of Preventive Cardiology.
