History

The Department of General Medical Practice №1 trains modern general practitioners and family doctors who possess modern methods of diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and are able to engage in continuous self-education.

The history of the department dates back to 1986, when the department was headed by associate professor N.K. Tuzelbaev. From 1987 to 1993 the department was headed by MD, professor G.I. Beloskurskaya. In 1994-2000 the department was headed by MD, professor R.S. Begimbetova. Since September 2009, the department was renamed the department of postgraduate training of general practitioners and until 2011 the department was headed by MD, professor A.Sh. Seisembaev.

Since April 2011, the department was headed by MD, professor M. Kultaev. In 2012, by the decision of the Academic Council, the Department of Postgraduate Training of General Practitioners was renamed the Department of Internship and Residency of GP 1, and in 2018 – the Department of General medical practice 3.

Since 2018, the department was headed by Ph.D. Zhumanova A.K. Clinical bases of the department are City Polyclinic on the right of economic management No. 3, City Polyclinic No. 1, City Polyclinic No. 5, City Polyclinic No. 11, City Polyclinic No. 15, City Polyclinic No. 16, City Polyclinic No. 23, City Polyclinic No. 24, City Polyclinic No. 30, City Polyclinic No. 35, City Polyclinic No. 36 and Medical Center Avicena, Asfendiyarova Professorial Clinic, Student Polyclinic, Asmed Medical Center

Since 2019, the department has started training in family medicine residency. In addition, the department has interns of the 6th year and 7th year, as well as students of the 5 course. The education process is aimed at the acquisition of knowledge by students, taking into account modern international recommendations, and necessarily the ability to apply them in practice. Employees of the Department together with interns carry out clinical reviews, consultations in clinical and diagnostic departments, seminars, thematic reviews. Residents and interns improve their practical skills at daily receptions of patients in polyclinics, participate and organize scientific and practical conferences. In training, the department ‘s teachers use innovative approaches that allow students to be involved in the learning process as much as possible. The department carries out research work of students. Session Research work of students takes place monthly.

Research priorities of the department: cardiology, study of psychosocial status and quality of life of a person in various chronic non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, atrial fibrillation, chronic heart failure.

Employees also perform clinical and therapeutic work, conducting consultations, consiliums, clinical examinations, and curating patients. The department also participates in scientific and practical conferences at its bases in city polyclinics.

The department employs more than 30 teachers, including 3 doctors and 9 candidates of medical sciences, 13 assistants with the highest category.
